Last year in Baku for the AIBA World Amateur Championships, Lazaro Alvarez of Cuba won the gold medal in the bantamweight division. Along the way, he defeated American Joseph Diaz Jr in the quarterfinals, 19-10.

Today at 8:30 a.m. EDT, Alvarez and Diaz will rematch at the Olympics. Diaz says he's got a game plan to beat the gold medal favorite Cuban, but it's no doubt a major task for him this morning in London. If he does win, Diaz will have pulled a major upset that could have a big impact on the interest in the American boxing run this year at the Olympics. Here's the video of the first fight:
Alvarez vs Diaz kicks off the boxing today in London, and it's a big day indeed. The bantamweights are in round two, while the heavyweights and super heavyweights start their competition in the round of 16, as well.
