The light welterweight gold medal match is set for tomorrow. Here are the semifinal results.

Roniel Iglesias (Cuba) def. Vincenzo Mangiacapre (Italy), 15-8: Not my favorite style matchup to watch, but a solid effort from both. The difference here was just approach as much as anything, I thin -- Iglesias has a more controlled, polished style, while Mangiacapre has that in-and-out, hands down attack that got him picked off by a talented fighter too often to really hang in, and Iglesias has good enough defense to not fall for Mangiacapre's bag of tricks.

Denys Berinchyk (Ukraine) def. Munkh-Erdene Uranchimeg (Mongolia), 29-21: Berinchyk doesn't know how to have a boring fight. He can also be fairly easily outboxed. But he refuses to stop coming forward, just walking through shots. Uranchimeg led 15-12 after two rounds, but took two eight counts in the third, and on the second, he was badly staggered, wobbling all over. Berinchyk dominated the third, setting the new high mark on the men's side (tied with Claressa Shields' 29 in the semifinals overall), and a single-round high of 17 points. The fight was a ton of fun.
