Starting this afternoon at 2 p.m. EDT on BoxNation in the UK and Sat.1 in Germany, middleweight titlists Felix Sturm and Daniel Geale will attempt to unify the WBA and IBF belts in Oberhausen, Germany, at Koenig Pilsener Arena.
[ Fight Preview: Sturm vs Geale ]
Sturm (37-2-2, 16 KO) and Geale (27-1, 15 KO) are ranked second and third, respectively, in the most recent BLH rankings, so for at least the time being, this is a fight to determine the true just-behind-Sergio spot in what is about to heat up and turn into one of the most exciting divisions in the sport. With this, Golovkin vs Proksa later tonight, Chavez Jr vs Martinez on 9/15, and now Quillin vs N'Jikam on 10/20, we're about to see a lot of quality middleweights taking on one another and shaping the immediate future of this division.
There isn't much for undercard on this show, with the best bout being Nadia Raoui (14-1-1, 3 KO) defending her WIBA flyweight title against Samson Tor Buamas (26-2, 11 KO) of Thailand.
Also featured will be former heavyweight titlist Ruslan Chagaev (29-2-1, 18 KO) against Werner Kreiskott (12-18-1, 8 KO) in a total stay-busy fight that might lead to Chagaev facing Tyson Fury later this year, and fight between Peru's Mauricio Reynoso (13-0-1, 11 KO) and Belarussian Uladzimir Kharkevich (1-0, 1 KO), which is somewhere around the middleweight limit.
