Ricky Burns will defend his WBO lightweight title against Kevin Mitchell this Saturday, live on BoxNation, in one of the year's biggest British fights, and one that all boxing fans should be paying attention to, as well.

Burns (34-2, 9 KO) and Mitchell (33-1, 24 KO) are both riding some momentum at the moment, and both are currently ranked in our top five in the division. The 135-pound class is changing a lot at the moment, with top fighters like Brandon Rios and Juan Manuel Marquez having gone north to 140, Adrien Broner about to make his way in, and names such as Miguel Vazquez and Antonio DeMarco competing to be called the No. 1 man in the world, belts aside.

A win on Saturday would go a long way in lending credibility to the claim of top dog for either Burns or Mitchell. Both of them are in the discussion, with Burns having a bit better claim, but Mitchell's a legitimate talent who showed his quality last year with a win over John Murray, a risky bid in a comeback fight after 14 months out of the ring following a bad loss to Michael Katsidis.

Burns himself has beaten Katsidis and most recently, former lightweight titlist Paulus Moses. He also held the WBO super featherweight title in 2010-11.

We'll have more on this card through the week, and live coverage on Saturday afternoon.
