Roger Mayweather's usual tunnel vision is in play in this video interview with Chris Robinson, as he's asked about the news that Floyd Mayweather Sr may train Victor Ortiz, and all Roger can really think of is that Victor Ortiz will not be able to beat Floyd Mayweather (the current fighter - Jr, if you will).
Of course, no one is really asking if Victor Ortiz can ever beat Floyd Mayweather, but Roger's focuses lie where they lie, and he's got his priorities. You could ask him about Virgil Hunter training Amir Khan, and all that would come to mind for Roger is that it don't fuckin matter cuz Khan ain't beatin his nephew no matter who trains him, shit. It's just how he thinks. It's all my nephew this, my nephew that. Which is weird, kind of, because Roger is actually really boxing smart.
But oh well. It's no surprise or anything. Roger's mind is fully focused on "Lil Floyd" whenever the topic of modern boxers anywhere near his nephew's weight class comes up. Perhaps that's why they're so good together, and why Roger has so few successes as a trainer otherwise. That or Floyd is super great and Wes Ferguson not so much.
