James DeGale has an opponent for his rapidly-approaching October 13 return to action, which will be his debut fight on Channel 5 and under the Hennessy Sports banner. ESPN UK reports that DeGale will defend his European super middleweight title against Hadillah Mohoumadi.
DeGale (12-1, 9 KO) hasn't fought since April, when he easily took care of Cristian Sanavia on a card in Denmark, as issues with former promoter Frank Warren have stunted his career for the last year, even though he did win the European belt directly after a domestic title loss to George Groves.
Mohoumadi (13-2-1, 9 KO) doesn't figure to be any type of real challenge for the former Olympic gold medalist, as he's a 32-year-old also-ran coming off of a loss. The Frenchman's record doesn't have a lot of weight to it, but this is a short-notice date meant to get DeGale started on the track back to real activity, and isn't really being booked as a serious title defense or anything like that. It is what it is, in short.
