Alexander Povetkin weighed in at 229 pounds to Hasim Rahman's 256 today in Germany, with Rahman looking notably soft and wearing a shirt (not that heavyweights have any reason to even take off their shoes if they don't feel like it), setting up tomorrow's WBA heavyweight title fight in Germany.
Povetkin (24-0, 16 KO) is the heavy favorite against Rahman (50-7-2, 41 KO), an undeserving challenger even with his status as a former world champion. "The Rock" hasn't been a true contender in years at this point, and the last time he got a major opportunity, he was steamrolled by Wladimir Klitschko in 2008.
Povetkin isn't Klitschko, but Rahman really isn't even what he was in 2008, and decline had long since set in four years ago.
On the undercard, Kubrat Pulev (16-0, 8 KO) will defend the European heavyweight title against Alexander Ustinov (27-0, 21 KO). Pulev weighed in at 249, with Ustinov at 305 pounds of man mountain.
There will also be a junior middleweight fight, which will be live on the BoxNation UK card but not the Epix show in the US, between Jack Culcay (12-0, 8 KO) and Mark Thompson (24-1, 14 KO). Both weighed in at 153 pounds.
