Super bantamweight prospect Luis Del Valle has his biggest career fight lined up tonight on HBO Boxing After Dark against former flyweight and super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan, and says the plan is to simply be too fast for the awkward Armenian slugger:
"I know he is going to try to bully me around. He's going to come with that big left hand and big left uppercut. ... Speed kills power, always. If he wants to bang with me or box me on the inside I will always be faster than him. As long as I stay out of range of his wild shots and keep my defense down then I will be okay. I don't see any way he can win this fight."
Del Valle (16-0, 9 KO) is the prospect meant to be showcased in this fight, but Darchinyan (37-5-1, 27 KO) has thus far always seemed to bring his career back right when it's on the brink. It's a big move for Darchinyan to try his luck at 122 pounds after going 0-3 in world title fights at 118, but at 36, he doesn't have a ton of options left, either. As always, Darchinyan does something ballsy when backed against the wall.
