Tonight at 9:30 pm EDT, HBO Boxing After Dark goes live with a tripleheader from Foxwoods in Connecticut, headlined by a super middleweight main event between Edwin Rodriguez (21-0, 14 KO) and Jason Escalera (13-0-1, 12 KO).
Rodriguez is the heavy favorite tonight, a prospect just about ready to graduate into either contender or pretender status, but this is a huge opportunity for Escalera, and you can expect him to bring what he's got to the table tonight.
The night's best fight is probably the super bantamweight clash between Luis Del Valle (16-0, 11 KO) and Vic Darchinyan (37-5-1, 27 KO) in a crossroads bout. Darchinyan went 0-3 in bantamweight world title fights, and now is at super bantamweight, in a pure "opponent" role, meant to showcase the young Puerto Rican prospect. But that has gone wrong many times before in boxing, and could again tonight.
The televised opener will be a welterweight fight between Alex Perez (16-0, 9 KO) and Antonin Decarie (26-1, 7 KO).
We'll be here with live round-by-round coverage of each fight, and we'll be using the new StoryStream capability so that you can follow as closely as possible, wherever you are. The old way of having the round-by-round discussion in this post is still there, but the StoryStream will also include summaries every three rounds of each fight, plus the normal recaps and results following the fights.
