J'Leon Love and Ramon Valenzuela weren't thrilling on tonight's Showtime card, but at least the finish was unusual, I suppose. Valenzuela was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct in the eighth round, after trying to make the fight ugly for most of the time there was in the ring, and clearly losing the fight.

All three judges had it 70-62, as did the three Showtime judges, as did Bad Left Hook.
Love (13-0, 7 KO) definitely didn't have the type of performance that opened a lot of eyes, but he won clearly and was much better than Valenzuela (7-2, 1 KO). The fight was shoe-horned into the main card after the original main event (Randall Bailey vs Devon Alexander) fell apart due to injury, and was far below the normal quality of a Saturday night Showtime fight, but not far off today's standard for ShoBox, and technically this IS a "special" ShoBox tonight, so fair enough.
Valenzuela lost a point after round seven for holding and other general dickishness, and with Love pouring on the pressure in round eight, referee Jay Nady called the fight when Valenzuela repeatedly tried to pick Love up and possibly throw him out of the ring.
