Frankie Gavin vs Jason Welborn: Live stream, results, round-by-round coverage

Frankie Gavin defends the British welterweight title today against Jason Welborn, with a pair of notable domestic clashes on the undercard.

Today at 2:00 pm EST on BoxNation and streaming live for subscribers at LiveSport, Frankie Gavin will make his first defense of the British welterweight title against Jason Welborn in the main event from Walsall.

Gavin (14-0, 10 KO) has rallied from issues outside the ring and a seemingly fast-sinking career as a top prospect to get his ship righted and capture a top domestic title, beating veteran and former 140-pound world champion Junior Witter in November. The 27-year-old Gavin appears to be settling into the sort of groove that was expected when he turned pro in 2009, and "Funtime" is the heavy favorite today. Welborn (11-1, 5 KO) is a former Midlands Area champion.

On the undercard, there are two more notable domestic fights. Former British cruiserweight champion Shane McPhilbin (8-4, 5 KO) will face Chris Keane (8-0, 3 KO) for the vacant Midlands Area title. If you've not seen McPhilbin fight, it's some of the ugliest fun in boxing -- no one will confuse him with a technician of any kind, but he'll swing for the fences, and can take a shot, too.

Martin Gethin (23-3-1, 10 KO) and Ben Murphy (9-5-1, 5 KO) will meet for the vacant British lightweight title, recently given up by Gavin Rees.
