Tonight at 9:45 pm EST on HBO, a big tripleheader from The Theater at Madison Square Garden goes live, with three world titles on the line for 2013's first major boxing card.
In the main event, WBO featherweight titlist Orlando "Siri" Salido (39-11-2, 27 KO) takes on rising star Mikey Garcia (30-0, 26 KO) in a pick'em fight that has our staff split. Veteran Salido took the "0" from Juan Manuel Lopez in 2011, and beat the Puerto Rican slugger again last year in a pair of Fight of the Year candidates. Garcia, trained by his older brother Robert, is taking his first shot at a major title, and is the slight betting favorite.
WBA middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO) is also back in action, facing tough junior middleweight contender Gabriel Rosado (21-5, 13 KO). It's Golovkin's second HBO outing, and he figures to have a much bigger audience this time, even though he's not in the main event as he was in September against Grzegorz Proksa. For Rosado, this is a massive opportunity, though he's a big underdog.
In the televised opener, WBO super featherweight beltholder Rocky Martinez (26-1-1, 16 KO) will face Juan Carlos Burgos (30-1, 20 KO) in a fight that could steal the show, renewing the Puerto Rico-Mexico rivalry.
BLH will have live coverage tonight, so join us at 9:45!
