Malignaggi vs Mosley hits 'financial sticking point,' fight may not happen

The April 27 fight between Paulie Malignaggi and Shane Mosley may be called off, as the two sides can't agree financially.

According to a report at BoxingScene.com, the April 27 fight between Paulie Malignaggi and Shane Mosley may be in jeopardy, as Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions says that Malignaggi has made it very difficult financially to get the fight done:

"Right now, as of about an hour ago, it looks like that fight might not happen. I just think that the financials are such that it's getting difficult to get the fight done, not because of Shane Mosley."

Mosley (46-8-1, 39 KO) was reportedly taking a pretty small purse for the fight, and was agreeable to that. Malignaggi likely wasn't offered as much as he thinks he's worth here, especially to fight at home and be responsible for the draw at the Barclays Center.

Whether or not Malignaggi's opinion of his own worth is greater than reality isn't really the point, I don't think. Paulie never seemed particularly thrilled with the idea of this fight when asked about it by media, and there's also the possibility he just doesn't want to make this fight at all, which I doubt many boxing fans will have any real problem accepting.
