Gennady Golovkin will return to the ring on March 30 in Monte Carlo, against an opponent to be named.
Golovkin (25-0, 22 KO) started his year off by beating Gabriel Rosado on HBO on January 19, stopping the brave and rugged Philly fighter in seven rounds. It was another performance that left fans wanting to see more of the talented Kazakh, who holds the WBA middleweight title.
Golovkin also says that he wishes former target Felix Sturm all the best in tomorrow's fight against Sam Soliman, which is an IBF eliminator. The winner in theory receives a shot at Daniel Geale, who just beat Anthony Mundine.
"Felix avoided me as his mandatory for over two years when he was champion, but I will give him the opportunity to fight for his old title whenever he would like to," Golovkin added in a press release, saying he'd love to fight either Sturm or Geale soon, as well as acknowledged division king Sergio Martinez.
"I want the biggest fights and the best challenges as I’ve said all along," Golovkin said. "With HBO broadcasting my fights, either Geale or Sturm would be a perfect fight this year. Geale said after the fight that he wanted to fight in the US this year, look no further we can make a title unification bout this summer."
