Tonight at 9:45 pm EDT, HBO will go live from Denver for a 140-pound battle between "Mile High" Mike Alvarado and "The Russian Rocky" Ruslan Provodnikov, a fight many expect will be a Fight of the Year contender when all is said and done.
Before the live fight, which will be the only live fight tonight, HBO will have a replay of last weekend's Timothy Bradley vs Juan Manuel Marquez fight, which Bradley won by split decision, sending Team Marquez into their trademark emotional spiral.
Alvarado (34-1, 23 KO) is the favorite tonight, but the heavy-handed, relentless Provodnikov (22-2, 15 KO) is a dangerous underdog to say the least. Alvarado had some trouble making weight yesterday, coming in initially at 141 pounds before getting down to 139.8, which is what Provodnikov weighed in at, as well.
The undercard fights will stream live on Top Rank TV starting at 7:45 pm EDT, but this is one only for those who are the diehards of the diehard, as the undercard is nothing but club fights, plus Juan Diaz fighting a club fighter.
