Ward vs Rodriguez weigh-in results: Edwin Rodriguez two pounds over, Ward on point

Andre Ward is good to go for tomorrow night's HBO main event, but challenger Edwin Rodriguez was two pounds over the super middleweight limit this evening on the scales.

Andre Ward said he had heard that Edwin Rodriguez was having trouble making weight for tomorrow night's HBO World Championship Boxing main event, and as soon as the unbeaten Rodriguez walked onto the stage to weigh in this afternoon, you could sense that there might be a problem.

Looking dried out and anything but confident of what the scale would say, Rodriguez (24-0, 16 KO) weighed in at 170 pounds, two pounds over the super middleweight limit. He was grilled by random weigh-in host Rob Schneider (yes, that one) after -- or, well, grilled by boxing terms. Schneider asked him actual questions, like how he felt and what he would do to drop the two pounds, and Rodriguez could only respond that he would "work on it."

Ward (26-0, 14 KO) came in at a fit and ready 167.8 pounds, and said only that he's done talking and that it's time to fight, promising a "showcase" tomorrow in Ontario, California.

The fight will go on either way, but with the way he looked, I wouldn't expect Rodriguez to be making the weight. More likely than not he's just going to forfeit some of his purse to Ward, but we'll see when he comes back to weigh in again.
