We've already put up the recap, but for those who may have missed it or want to look at it again right away, Zombie Prophet has a couple of GIFs of the incredibly controversial stoppage of the Carl Froch vs George Groves fight today in Manchester.
Froch (32-2, 23 KO) was given an early Christmas present when referee Howard Foster stepped in to stop the fight in the ninth round. Groves (19-1, 15 KO) was gutted by the stoppage, as he should have been.
Do you think there's any real defense of Foster's stoppage? Groves was certainly reeling somewhat, but he was still mentally there and Froch had taken just as much punishment in just about every round, as Groves said after the bout, and was certainly worse hurt in the first and second rounds.
Is this just a situation where flat-out, the referee screwed the pooch and got this one dead wrong, as seems to be the prevailing opinion right now?
