Manny Pacquiao got back in the win column tonight by outclassing Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios in Macao, winning on scores of 120-108, 119-109, and an arguably generous 118-110. Pacquiao (55-5-2, 38 KO) hadn't won since his November 2011 decision against Juan Manuel Marquez, and though he didn't end his streak of wins without a stoppage, he was able to totally overwhelm Rios (31-2-1, 23 KO), who was game but simply out of his depth.
Pacquiao, turning 35 next month, will have a big decision for his next fight, but there are viable in-house options. You can likely forget about the Floyd Mayweather fight, but we'll talk more shortly about what's next for Pacquiao.
As for Rios, he's always going to have a home on HBO. I mean, the guy is flat-out entertaining, and no one can disagree with that. The reality is, he did as well as he could have done against Pacquiao fighting as well as Pacquiao fought. If Manny had been worse, Brandon would have done better. But Rios took some vicious shots and stood up there and finished the fight. He was always there, trying to win the fight.
