Welcome, finally, to another results column. You can check out the previous edition here. I apologize for how late this came out but I was distracted with life outside of the internet. Plus I had to watch about 5 million fights from this week. OK fine, it was only about 104. It still took 2 full days to do all that and put this report together. And who the hell has time for that? I was busy winning this belt. A lot of training went into that. But I'm not gonna front. I got it by default when my opponent didn't show. It is what it is. Let's move on to the recaps of fights that actually happened...
-----------------
2013-11-10 Kokugikan, Tokyo, Japan
WOWOW
Shinsuke Yamanaka KO9 Alberto Guevara
Alberto Guevara was down twice in round 8 and finished off in round 9. Yamanaka was ahead 79-71 on all three scorecards prior to the stoppage. You could say that Yamanaka had an easier time with Guevara than Leo Santa Cruz did (you may recall that Paulie Malignaggi had Santa Cruz-Guevara even). In any event Yamanaka retained his WBC bantamweight title. Ironically his #1 contender is a man he already beat, fellow Japanese fighter Ryosuke Iwasa. Perhaps he'd be better off fighting his #2 contender Suriyan Sor Rungvisai. He should be fine there as long as he doesn't go to Thailand... But just about everyone in the WBC top 5 right now is a guaranteed action fight waiting to happen, whether they deserve to be rated that high or not. I'm stoked, like in that movie Stoker. OK, maybe not that stoked...
Takahiro Ao KO1 Edgar Alejandro Lomeli
Roman Gonzalez TKO2 Oscar Blanquet
Gonzalez officially began his flyweight campaign with a quick domination of a guy that other top flyweights were extended the full distance with. Will it be enough to immediately rate him at the top of his 3rd consecutive weight class? Wait and see in the next BLH rankings update...
Jorge Linares KO1 Francisco Contreras

Ali Raymi KO1? Akram Jafwi
I haven't seen the fight but Raymi set the all-time record for consecutive knockouts in the first round (20). Supposedly he's bringing the unbeaten Samson Dutch Boy Gym (43-0, 36 KOs) out of an 11+ year retirement for his next fight. This ironically would still be a massive step up in opposition. But it's not like Raymi has any time to lose. He is a 39 year old strawweight after all.

2013-11-11 Cowboys Dance Hall, San Antonio, Texas, USA
Fox Sports / Fox Deportes
Fidel Maldonado Jr TKO7 Luis Ramos Jr
In round 1 Ramos was cut above the left eye and on unsteady legs. In round 3 he suddenly lost a point for holding. In round 6 he was dropped twice, but somehow survived. And then the ref waved it off early in round 7 before things got ugly again. It was a good fight but too one sided to be great. Yet, Bernard Hopkins called it "Micky-Ward-Arturo Gatti all over again." Maybe he was referring to Ward-Gatti II.
Fernando Guerrero UD10 Raymond Gatica (96-93, 96-93, 96-93)
Guerrero was lucky to not take a loss here if I'm being honest. He was officially ruled down in round 1 and battered plenty afterward. I couldn't believe I was looking at a once highly regarded prospect that's only 27.
Terrell Gausha KO1 Andres Calixto Rey

2013-11-12 Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, Florida, USA
Brazil Sport TV
Norberto Gonzalez UD10? Michael Oliveira (97-91?, 97-91?, 96-92?)
Haven't caught this fight yet, but, it was the main event, so, supposedly Gonzalez won. No surprise there really, even if it was an upset...
Yunieski Gonzalez KO8 Jinner Guerrero
Yuri Foreman KO1 Javier Gomez
Foreman picked up his first knockout victory since Jimmy LeBlanc in 2006, which also happened in the opening round.

2013-11-14 York Hall, Bethnal Green, London, United Kingdom
Sky Sports presents Prizefighter: UK v USA - Heavyweights
Quarter-Final 1: Jason Gavern UD3 Larry Olubamiwo (29-28, 29-28, 29-27)
Quarter-Final 2: James Toney TKO3 Matt Legg
Quarter-Final 3: Michael Sprott UD3 Damian Wills (30-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Quarter-Final 4: Brian Minto SD3 Tom Little (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Semi-Final 1: Jason Gavern MD3 James Toney (29-29, 29-28, 29-28)
This bout also could have easily been scored 30-27 for Toney. Nonetheless he's still a shot fighter.
Semi-Final 2: Michael Sprott UD3 Brian Minto (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Special Feature: Anthony Joshua TKO2 Hrvoje Kisicek
Final: Michael Sprott UD3 Jason Gavern (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
It took until the main event but Sprott finally got a clear win. Now he's a 2 time Prizefighter champion. Yay? He should still retire.

Konstantin Ponomarev RTD3 Rogelio Castaneda Jr
Welterweight prospect Ponomarev improved to 22-0 and picked up his 11th knockout. I'm not sure if it was Castaneda's decision to pull out.
Charles Martin RTD4 Joey Dawejko
Dawejko, a fat but skilled heavyweight, was stopped for the first time in his career after retiring in his corner following a knockdown in round 4. His corner waved it off. Southpaw Martin improved to 12-0-1, 10 KOs.

Sergey Rabchenko UD12 Bradley Pryce (120-107?, 117-110?, 118-109?)
Rabchenko defended his EBU & WBC Silver light middleweight titles in a late replacement rematch. Ironically the originally scheduled bout against Cedric Vitu would have also been a rematch. But at least with Vitu there actually is some unfinished business...
Stiliyan Kostov DQ9 Daniel Borisov
In a pretty awful fight Kostov picked up the vacant Bulgarian middleweight title as Borisov, seemingly ahead on the scorecards, was randomly disqualified. Based on it being the 3rd point deduction the DQ made sense, but 2 of the point deductions did not. Kostov was equally dirty if not more so. He instigated the reactions of Borisov, whom lost 2 points in round 3 and 1 in round 9. The second point Borisov lost for low blows was legit. The rest were for wrestling on the break.

Luan Krasniqi W8 Uwe Hueck
If you're wondering why this was the main event, it's because it was a charity event. Krasniqi came out of retirement to fight a former muaythai fighter.

-----------------
2013-11-16 Oasis Hotel Complex, Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Televisa (Mexico) / Fox Deportes (USA)
Daniel Ponce De Leon UD10 Joksan Hernandez (100-89, 100-89, 100-89)
This stay-busy fight took place a little above the super featherweight limit. Ponce De Leon doesn't yet know whether he will continue to campaign at super featherweight or move back down to featherweight. Moving down only seems plausible if he's given rematches with either Jhonny Gonzalez or Abner Mares. The WBC already has Ponce rated in the top 10 at super featherweight and a meeting with the winner of Takashi Miura-Dante Jardon could very well be his next fight.
Robert Manzanarez KO3 Alejandro Barrera
Juan Pablo Sanchez TKO5 Raul Hinojosa
Emmanuel Medina KO2 Maximiliano de la Cruz
-----------------
2013-11-16 El Domo, San Luis Potosi, San Luis Potosí, Mexico
Azteca America (USA) / Azteca 7 (Mexico)
Jorge Arce TKO8 Jose Carmona
Arce, seemingly risking his health by coming out of retirement, ended up putting Carmona's health at risk after an 8 round war. Fortunately 2 brain surgeries later Carmona is in stable condition. Major incidents with Leal, Abdusalamov, and Carmona have all happened within the distance of a month. Boxing is not in a good place right now...

Alexander Ustinov UD12 David Tua (119-109, 119-110, 119-108)
Tua came back from a 2 year hiatus and will probably retire for good following this lackluster performance. Tua was never particularly good against tall fighters even in his prime. So matching him against the 6′ 7½″ Ustinov was baffling to say the least. But what's done is done. Ustinov picked up the vacant WBA Pan African heavyweight title.

Chris Avalos TKO3 Rolly Lunas
For whatever reason, this main event wasn't televised until the week after, accompanied with Cristian Mijares vs Victor Terrazas. Anyways, Avalos did what he was supposed to. He's on his way back to TV channels in English in the not too distant future. Will he actually win this time around when he returns? Well, that's another story. Either way he's a super bantamweight contender, just not a top rated one. I don't care if BoxRec rates him #4...

Unbeaten super featherweight prospect Felix improved to 26-0-1.

2013-11-16 Turning Stone Resort & Casino, Verona, New York, USA
NBC (USA) / TV 2 (Russia) / SportsNet 1 (Canada)
Vyacheslav Glazkov UD10 Garrett Wilson (97-93, 98-92, 99-91)
Scott Christ recapped this NBC doubleheader here. Mr. Wilson and I however saw the main event closer. Glazkov thought he beat Malik Scott because Scott "ran." So what the hell did Glazkov do here? He was clearly more concerned about Wilson's power than vice versa. The right man still won, but "The Ultimate Warrior's" performance was entertaining enough to earn him a spot back on television. He told me recently that he'll return to cruiserweight against Thabiso Mchunu on NBC Sports.
As for Glazkov, well, I don't know where he's going. Maybe Main Events tries to put the Tomasz Adamek fight back together again. I'd favor Tomasz to win...
Karl Dargan UD10 Michael Brooks (98-92, 99-91, 99-91)
Somebody's "O" had to go and it wasn't "Dynamite's." He's a lot better than his #128 lightweight rating on BoxRec... I suppose he just needs the right fights to prove it.

If a bout is not mentioned which took place on one of the above cards it’s most likely because I haven’t got around to watching it yet. In the event that I do watch such a bout at a later time it’s still unlikely I will update this results column. My columns will be posted once a week, devoted to cards that most casual American boxing fans haven’t seen or heard of. For available footage of the previously reported bouts follow @sweetboxing on twitter. You may also email the author of this piece at rgbivins@gmail.com.
