Danny Garcia hoping to return in March or April 2014

Danny Garcia is the recognized king at 140 pounds, and the Philly fighter is looking to make his ring return in the spring.

With a big run in 2012-13 behind him, 140-pound division ruler Danny "Swift" Garcia says he's looking to fight two or three times in 2014, and make his return in March or April, saying he doesn't want to sit out any longer than that and accumulate any rust.

Garcia (27-0, 16 KO) has scored consecutive wins over Kendall Holt, Erik Morales, Amir Khan, Morales again, Zab Judah, and most recently and perhaps most impressively, Lucas Matthysse. That run dates back to October 2011, when Garcia made the step up against former titlist Holt and began to really make his mark on the division.

Now 25 and turning 26 in March, Garcia is right on the verge of becoming a potential major player in the boxing world, and if things keep up as they have gone, we could be looking at a Floyd Mayweather opponent for late 2014 or maybe spring 2015. If the two keep winning, that's a fight that could absolutely happen, and potentially be intriguing when the time comes, with Garcia a rising star and Floyd at the back end of a brilliant career, and still the best fighter in the sport.
