Austin Trout has a chance to win back the WBA "regular" junior middleweight title in a vacant title fight against Erislandy Lara this Saturday night on Showtime and says he's looking to expose Lara's "lack of heart":
"I feel like he lacks real heart and will, and we're going to go out and expose that. I'm a technical fighter as well, but as I said, I've got the high determination to win in all different types of scenarios."
Trout (26-1, 14 KO) lost the WBA title belt to Canelo Alvarez on April 20 in front of 40,000 fans in San Antonio, while Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO) is coming off of a TKO win over Alfredo Angulo on June 8.
The WBA super title is currently held by Floyd Mayweather, and there's no particularly good reason to have a second WBA title, but that's boxing. That's just how it goes.
Lara has said that he has the right plan for the fight, and that Trout will have to make adjustments, not him.
