According to a report at MLive.com from David Mayo, Floyd Mayweather could announce his next opponent within a week or so, and it won't be Manny Pacquiao, which should be a surprise to zero people anywhere.
Asked about Pacquiao, Mayweather offered a one-word response:
"Who?" he said.
Mayweather vs Pacquiao got a new shot of life after Pacquiao's November 23 win over Brandon Rios in Macao, but nobody ever considered it a serious possibility. Floyd last fought on September 14, beating Canelo Alvarez over 12 rounds. 2013 was the first year that Mayweather fought twice since 2007. The unbeaten pound-for-pound king also defeated Robert Guerrero on May 4.
Mayweather (45-0, 26 KO) is scheduled to get back in the ring on May 3. The frontrunner for the fight is expected to be Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO), the Golden Boy-promoted fighter who may currently be worth the most money as a Floyd opponent, as he's able to bring in UK money.
