This Friday night from the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Krzysztof Wlodarczyk will face Giacobbe Fragomeni for a third time with Wlodarczyk's WBC cruiserweight title at stake in the main event, and Andrzej Fonfara will return to action against veteran Samuel Miller in the co-feature.
The fights will be aired live on ESPN3 at WatchESPN.com for those in the States, and BLH will have live coverage, which will precede live coverage for a late-starting ShoBox (11:50 pm EST) the same night.
Here are some quotes from the fighters and promoters:
Leon Margules (Warriors Boxing)
This is going to be a great show for a number of reasons. First of all, we've got Poland's only current world champion defending his title in a great fight. He and his challenger are here to lay it on the line. I've been working with Wlodarczyk for years and that's what he always does in every fight.
Plus, we've got the world's #1 light heavyweight Andrzej Fonfara in action.
Assuming Andrzej gets by Samuel Miller, I predict a big year next year for him. He will be world champion next year, doesn't matter who he ends up fighting for it. And he will make his HBO debut. I see all great things for Fonfara.
Krzysztof "Diablo" Wlodarczyk
I'm here to show the world and the fans in Chicago how good I am. I'm here to prove I'm the best, like I did in Moscow in my last fight. Thanks everyone for coming. This is a great city and I'll see you all on Friday night.
Giacobbe Fragomeni
I respect Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. He is a great champion. I am honored to fight in this great city and hope it will be an exciting fight for the fans.
Luis DeCubas (Warriors Boxing)
This is going to be a great night of fights. Both main events feature big punchers on both sides.
We've got Poland's only world champ, plus Andrzej Fonfara, Poland's next champ. He's in against a strong guy in Samuel Miller, who has fought a number of tough opponents.
Our main goal right now is trying to get Bernard Hopkins to come here to fight Fonfara. That's what we're working on.
Christian Cherchi (OPI 2000)
The first fight was a great one and I'm hoping it'll be just like that one on Friday. Very exciting for the fans especially.
I had a great camp and thanks to all who helped put the show here. "El Diablo" and Fonfara are both here on one show. Very exciting.
Andrzej Fonfara
I had a great training camp. I spent part of the time in Big Bear, California and part of the time here. I am ready for my fight with Miller. He is a good fighter and a strong puncher and a tough guy, but I'm going to win. I will be world champion one day.
Samuel Miller
I know what my job is. I am here to one thing and that is to take away Andrzej Fonfara's #1 ranking and take his place. That's the only thing I'm here to do.
Adrian Granados
As far as my fight against Carlos Winston Velasquez, he's a durable guy and another tough test for me, but I am sure I will get the W on Friday night.
