The WBO super middleweight title will be on the line when Robert Stieglitz meets Arthur Abraham for a third time on March 1, 2014, in Magdeburg, Germany. Stieglitz's promoters at SES easily outbid Abraham's promoters at Sauerland Event for the rights to the fight. ESPN.com reports that SES bid $3.135 million to Sauerland's $1,541,414.
Stieglitz (46-3, 26 KO) first fought Abraham (38-4, 28 KO) in August 2012, losing a 12-round decision. In March of this year, Stieglitz stopped Abraham in the fourth round after battering the defending titlist, winning his first world title. Since then, Stieglitz has fought twice, defending the belt against Yuzo Kiyota in July and Isaac Ekpo in October.
Abraham, meanwhile, has beaten Willbefore Shihepo and Giovanni De Carolis. He struggled some against Shihepo, then got back into the ring two months later in an attempt to shake that off, which he did with a better performance against De Carolis.
