Top Rank VP Carl Moretti tweeted earlier today that a fight between Jessie Vargas and Wale Omotoso is finalized for the HBO co-feature slot on March 16, beneath the Timothy Bradley-Ruslan Provodnikov main event.

Vargas (21-0, 9 KO) and Omotoso (23-0, 19 KO) are a pair of unbeaten welterweights whose prospect stock has sort of stabilized if not slipped in the last year or so. The 23-year-old Vargas was signed from Mayweather Promotions when his deal with that team ran out last year, and he could quickly wind up in the mix for Top Rank's main welterweight names, including Bradley.

Omotoso, 27, was born in Nigeria and came up in the sport in Australia, relocating to the States after signing with Top Rank in 2011. Since he's come to America, Omotoso has struggled a bit in fights he was probably expected to cruise through, and hasn't impressed many in his slots on Top Rank undercards.

Whether or not either of these two fighters are destined for true contender status is debatable, but it's a solid prospect fight on paper, and someone's going to take a forward, while the loser takes a real hit.
