Rising heavyweight star David Price makes his return to the ring today in Liverpool, where the 29-year-old Brit will face 41-year-old veteran American Tony Thompson, a two-time world title contender whose better days are behind him, but is being sold, at least, as a next step as the powerful Price makes his journey toward a world title shot.
The card goes live at 2:30 pm EST on WealthTV in the US, which can be streamed on their site, and 3 pm EST on BoxNation in the UK. Those are the times listed, anyway -- the BoxNation time is correct, I know that much.
Price (15-0, 13 KO) is the heavy favorite, as he's got home field advantage, he's the younger man, and he's been on a streak of major destruction over his recent fights, plowing through opposition that has simply found themselves overmatched when in against the 6'8" prospect.
Thompson (36-3, 24 KO) hasn't fought since his second loss to Wladimir Klitschko last year, a sixth round TKO notable for nothing more than the fact that Thompson simply didn't look eager to actually be there, after a game performance against Wladimir in 2008.
On the undercard
Kevin Satchell (9-0, 2 KO) defend the British and Commonwealth flyweight titles against Luke Wilton (13-2-1, 7 KO) ... Darren Hamilton (12-2, 3 KO) defends the British junior welterweight title against Steve "Not Dr. Death" Williams (13-1, 5 KO) ... Domestic junior welterweight contender Adil Anwar (18-1, 7 KO) takes on Lance Sheehan (5-1, 1 KO).
