Amir Khan announced today on Twitter that he'll be back on April 27, making his return to the ring in the United Kingdom, where he hasn't fought since 2011.
Khan (27-3, 19 KO) doesn't have an opponent yet, but one name still being floated around is Humberto Soto, which is a matchup that has been discussed for past dates, too. Last time it was brought up, Showtime was reportedly not very interested in the fight, but it might be about as good as it gets for the April date, which will serve as the Showtime boxing lead-in show for their big Floyd Mayweather pay-per-view on May 4.
Khan last fought in December, easily routing undersized Carlos Molina in a predictable bounce-back fight. Josesito Lopez was thought to be Khan's next foe, but that fell apart, as did a potential fight with Vyacheslav Senchenko, both over catchweight requests. Aside from Soto, Pablo Cesar Cano has been named as a potential foe for Khan.
