Tonight at 9 pm EST on ESPN2, Friday Night Fights is back with another world title fight, as Billy Dib defends the IBF featherweight title against Evgeny Gradovich in the main event, with Willie Nelson taking on Michael Medina in the co-feature.
Dib (35-1, 21 KO) is promoted now by 50 Cent, as he was signed on during the period that everyone thought TMT Promotions was going to exist, with Floyd Mayweather involved. There was some confusion over Dib's contract after that, but he's wound up with 50 and SMS Promotions. This will be his first fight since last July.
Gradovich (15-0, 8 KO) is an unbeaten and untested Russian-born fighter who lives in North Carolina and has fought his entire career in the States. He's not really a top contender, but then it's easy to say that Dib isn't really a "world champion," either, despite his belt.
Nelson (19-1-1, 11 KO) is an incredibly lanky, 6'3" junior middleweight who has found some success since moving up from welterweight, where he lost a ShoBox fight to Vincent Arroyo in 2011. Since then he's gone 3-0, and has wins over Yudel Jhonson and John Jackson in his last two fights.
Medina (26-3-2, 19 KO) is a scrapper who generally brings a good fight. His losses have come to Vanes Martirosyan, John Duddy, and Saul Roman (that one a TKO-2). He beat Grady Brewer in December 2011 for the best win of his career.
