According to a report at BoxingScene.com, unbeaten prospects Omar Figueroa and Abner Cotto will square off on the April 20 undercard beneath Canelo Alvarez vs Austin Trout in San Antonio, with the card airing on Showtime.
Figueroa, 23, has been campaigning at junior welterweight lately, having had trouble making lightweight, while Cotto, 25, makes lightweight quite easily. A catchweight is probably to be expected, something like 137 pounds.
Figueroa (20-0-1, 16 KO) is one of the most exciting prospects in the Golden Boy stable in terms of in-ring action. He comes to fight every time out, and the Weslaco, Texas, native doesn't back down from anyone. Last year he was very busy through July, fighting a total of six times, and last fought on March 2 of this year, knocking out Henry Aurad in one round. His best win to date is probably his dismantling of Michael Perez on a January 2012 edition of ShoBox.
Cotto (16-0, 7 KO) is a cousin of Miguel Cotto's, and promoted by his famous kin. He's a solid prospect who hasn't really turned a ton of heads, and has had some minor tests in a couple of fights, but he's got the connections and this is certainly a chance for him to prove his worth.
