Mayweather vs Guerrero: BoxNation lands UK TV rights

BoxNation has secured the May 4 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero, a shot in the arm for a channel that has struggled with cancellations and delays of late.

BoxNation is giving UK viewers a reason to subscribe soon, as they've landed the rights to the UK broadcast of the May 4 fight between Floyd Mayweather and Robert Guerrero, along with what looks like it's going to be a good undercard, featuring Daniel Ponce De Leon vs Abner Mares.

BoxNation has had a rough start to the year in terms of having live fights to air, as Frank Warren has dealt with defections, postponements, and cancellations repeatedly, and Sauerland Event, another major contributor to the channel, haven't put on many shows either.

But Mayweather-Guerrero is a big pickup, as it's always a globally relevant fight when Floyd gets into the ring. BoxNation's deal with Golden Boy will pay off here, would be the hope, as there have been a lot of rumors that the network hasn't done nearly well enough to be viable for too much longer. Those are just rumors, but they're not exactly brushed off when brought up in conversation.

The fight will air in the States on Showtime pay-per-view, of course, with Mayweather having planted his flag with CBS Sports for what could be the remainder of his career.
