Despite jumping ship to Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing stable, George Groves will return to BoxNation on Saturday as part of the Abraham-Stieglitz II undercard from Germany, as Hearn has gotten Groves a very fast return to the ring to get his activity level back up.
Groves (17-0, 13 KO) made his Matchroom debut on March 9, stopping Argentina's Dario German Balmaceda in three easy rounds. He'll be in against another likely widely overmatched foe this time, facing Syria's Baker Barakat (37-13-4, 25 KO). Barakat has built a record beating really poor opponents and losing otherwise, and he's being positioned as his specialty here, a tune-up opponent.
Groves, 24, is also booked for the Froch-Kessler undercard on May 25, part of the big Sky Box Office show from London. Groves is eyeing a world title shot later this year, and has been talked about as a possible opponent for the winners of both rematches (Abraham-Stieglitz and Froch-Kessler).
