Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado had a scintillating, brutal battle last October (highlights) that not only lived up to astronomical expectations, but may indeed have surpassed them. This Saturday night on HBO, they step into the main event role for a rematch that figures to be another hellacious war, as Rios looks to put himself in line for a major money fight if he can win again, while Alvarado guns for revenge.
Rios-Alvarado II has somewhat flown under the radar, but it's simply because it's not a fight that really needs promotion. Though you can argue the rematch didn't "need" to happen, we should be so lucky as boxing fans to "accept" a fight of this quality when there aren't many options available for a pair of fighters. No matter what happens, it's essentially impossible that these two will put on a bad fight, and at worst, those tuning in should be completely entertained on Saturday.
We'll have much more on Rios-Alvarado II in the coming days, including our live coverage on Saturday night, beginning at 10:15 pm EDT.
