Tomorrow night's HBO Boxing After Dark junior welterweight double-header is set, as all four fighters made weight on the scales today in Las Vegas, for the big event at the Mandalay Bay.
In the main event, Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado both came in at 140 pounds for their rematch of an October 2012 barnburner, which Rios won via seventh round TKO. Rios (31-0-1, 23 KO) is favored to repeat his win, while Alvarado (33-1, 23 KO) hopes to box more in his revenge-seeking effort, feeling he has the tools to beat Rios that way after losing the toe-to-toe slugfest the first time around. Rios, though, expects to have a repeat of the first bout, feeling that Alvarado will go back to his brawling instincts when he gets hit.
In the HBO co-feature, Breidis Prescott (26-4, 20 KO) will face unbeaten prospect Terence Crawford (19-0, 15 KO) in a ten-round bout. Crawford stepped in on short notice for injured WBA titlist Khabib Allakhverdiev. Crawford weighed in at 139½, with Prescott at 140 on the button.
