Tomorrow night at 9:30 pm EST, Bernard Hopkins will try to win another world title at age 48, which would break his own record, as he faces Tavoris Cloud for Cloud's IBF light heavyweight belt from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, live on HBO.
Today, the fighters weigh in, starting at 1 pm EST.
Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KO) has gone winless in his last two, a no-contest with Chad Dawson followed by a clear loss in their rematch last April. Cloud (24-0, 19 KO) seems a better style matchup for "The Executioner" than Dawson was, but age is always going to be a potentially huge factor for Hopkins, and has been for a couple of years now. He's kept on defying time. Eventually, he won't be able to do so.
For Cloud, this is a huge opportunity for him to really make his mark on the sport. He hasn't fought since February 2012, when he won a very controversial decision over Gabriel Campillo in Texas, on Showtime.
Tomorrow night's co-feature is a WBO welterweight eliminator between Keith Thurman (19-0, 18 KO) and former IBF titlist Jan Zaveck (32-2, 18 KO). Also featured on the undercard among others will be prospects Eddie Gomez, Michael Perez, and 2012 U.S. Olympian Marcus Browne.
