Heavyweight contender Chris Arreola has a brief message for April 27 opponent Bermane Stiverne, as the two get set to clash in a WBC eliminator next weekend in California, part of an HBO split-site card paired with Martinez-Murray from Argentina:
"Yo, what up? This is Chris 'The Nightmare' Arreola. On April 27th, Bermane Stiverne is gonna be in a hell of a motherfuckin' nightmare. I'm No. 1, he's No. 2. The championship will stay here. Watch it on HBO, or just come to Citizens Business Bank Arena on April 27th. Don't miss it."
Arreola (35-2, 30 KO) has won seven straight since a 2010 loss to Tomasz Adamek, and there was a period in 2011 when they were pushing him to stay extremely active so that he wouldn't balloon up in weight between fights. He got to fighting regularly between 235 and 245, beating mediocre opponents and waiting for another big fight.
Some will argue whether or not Stiverne (22-1-1, 20 KO) really qualifies as a "big fight," but the Haitian-Canadian, now living in Las Vegas, has a punch, and Arreola generally makes guys fight him, or he knocks them out. It's worth hoping there's at least some action in this one.
