Danny Garcia's win over Zab Judah on Saturday night may have set up his final fight at 140 pounds, as the 25-year-old WBC and WBA titleholder is targeting a move to welterweight soon.
"I am getting bigger, I've been at 140 for a long time and I don't want to get to the point where I'm training just to lose weight and it's affecting my performances. So I probably have one more at 140," Garcia said.
Garcia (26-0, 16 KO) is ranked No. 1 at junior welterweight by just about everyone. If he does have just one more fight at 140, Golden Boy has said repeatedly they'd like to match the winner of the April 27 fight, so Garcia, against the winner of the May 18 fight between Lamont Peterson and Lucas Matthysse. That's a great fight either way, so hopefully, if Danny has a last hurrah at 140, that will be the fight.
Garcia said on Saturday night that he favored Peterson to win that fight.
