Young Mexican Juan Francisco Estrada had a breakout performance today in Macau, upsetting Brian Viloria to win the WBO and WBA flyweight titles in a another action-packed bout.

It was scored a split decision, but anyone who watched the fight outside of judge Levi Martinez knew that there was only one winner, as Juan Francisco Estrada had a breakout performance, knocking off Brian Viloria and winning the WBO and WBA flyweight titles.

Official scores were 116-111 and 117-111 for Estrada, which were good scores, and then an inexplicable 115-113 card for Viloria from Martinez. BLH had it 116-112 for Estrada, who outworked Viloria and made "Hawaiian Punch" look downright old as the battle wore on.

Viloria (32-4, 19 KO) had stood as the world's top-ranked flyweight for a while now, having gone on a fantastic run after many had written him off following a 2010 loss to Carlos Tamara. But at 32, he's aging for a flyweight, and it showed in this bout, as he tried to fight the 22-year-old Estrada (23-2, 18 KO) at a high pace, and wound up gassed out and, eventually, beaten up for his effort.

This was definitely a breakout sort of performance for Estrada, who gave top junior flyweight Roman Gonzalez a hell of a battle last year, and now has a clear win over Viloria to his credit. This is a young fighter with a couple of losses, so no need to protect an "0," who has gone toe-to-toe with one top fighter, and now taken down another. A rematch with Gonzalez at flyweight would make a lot of sense right now. The way Estrada fought in this one impressed everyone watching, including Larry Merchant, George Foreman, and Tim Ryan. And me, of course. I'm also very important.
