It's a special edition of Friday Night Fights tonight, as it's Thursday and all that, and we're two days out from the big event(s) of the weekend, but ESPN2 might host what winds up being the fight of the week.
Tonight's main event is a 140-pound fight between Mauricio Herrera and Ji-Hoon Kim, set for 10 rounds. Herrera (18-2, 7 KO) has been in some barnburners, including a 2011 win over Ruslan Provodnikov, and a 2012 loss to Mike Alvarado. Kim (24-8, 18 KO) is all-action, all the time, as he just doesn't really know any other way to fight. He takes a lot of punishment, and dishes out plenty, too.
Neither guy is going to be confused for a top contender at 140 (Herrera is closer than Kim), but they both throw down. This one is definitely worth tuning in to see.
In the co-feature, former lightweight titlist Miguel Acosta (29-6-2, 23 KO) faces Miguel Gonzalez (20-3, 15 KO) in a 10-round lightweight bout. Acosta has lost three of four, dropping fights to Brandon Rios, Richar Abril, and Art Hovhannisyan. Gonzalez is coming off of a shutout loss in February 2012 against Mike Dallas Jr.
The show starts at 10:00 pm EDT on ESPN2 tonight, and the only thing ahead of it on the schedule is a bunch of old Mike Tyson fights you've seen a million times, so there will be no delay from another live event running over. Join us!
