Froch vs Kessler delivers one million viewers over two airings on HBO

Last Saturday's live and replay broadcasts of Carl Froch's win over Mikkel Kessler combined to bring in over one million viewers for HBO.

Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler delivered action in last Saturday's rematch from London, and in combined airings on HBO, delivered solid numbers for the American broadcast.

The live showing, which started at 6:00 pm EDT, did 493,000 viewers, and the replay at 10:00 pm EDT did 517,000, combining for about 1.1 million viewers overall. Neither number standing alone is the normal standard of "good," but afternoon live boxing in the States is a rarity, and something viewers just aren't used to. It continues, I would say, a strong run this year for ratings on both HBO and Showtime, the latter particularly picking up their game and continuing to strengthen their brand, while HBO has yet to show any real ill effects from their decision to no longer deal with Golden Boy or Al Haymon.

Now I have to think of 19 more words to put into this post so I can get it syndicated and all that, which is terrific oh hey dunzo
