Pick'em Game: Season 16 - Week 8 Standings

It's been a tough season and week 8 was no exception, with plenty of players failing to put points on the board. Amid the struggles, HandsOfStone98 stepped up with a big 47 points, thanks to a 5 for 8 week that included a triple on Abner Mares by stoppage.

Taking second was knibilnats (6 for 6, 1 double) with 39.5, followed by Skeletor1982 (4 for 7, 2 doubles) in third with 34.5, Hoosier (4 for 10, 1 triple & 1 double) in fourth with 28.5 and BoxAnne (3 for 6, 1 triple) in fifth with 26. The rest of the weekly top ten had BrianBrock at 25.5, SilkyJohnson001 25.5, haer10 25, ringsidewriter 24.5 and bigmac10 with 23.5.

Pick Breakdowns

Pick the winner: 27 players scored on either Mayweather straight-up (6) or via decision (21), with 18 losing points on Mayweather via KO (5) or Guerrero (13).

Over/Under: This selection provided plenty of points this week with 32 players correctly calling the Over and only 6 losing out on the Under

Mares/Ponce: Only 6 players scored points on the stoppage victory by Abner Mares with 5 taking Mares straight-up and only 1 (HandsOfStone98) taking the KO route. A total of 38 players lost points on the fight, with 20 taking Mares via decision and another 18 going with Ponce de Leon to pull the upset.

Rosado/Love: This proved a stumbling block for most players as only 12 players took J'Leon Love... 29 lost points on Gabriel Rosado. And yes, the decision was slightly controversial, but going against the promoter's fighter is always risky in the pick'em game.

Klitschko/Pianeta: Only 10 players scored points by taking Klitschko to win within 6 rounds.. and the big guy just barely did it. A total of 30 players lost points on the fight with 14 taking Klitschko to win between rounds 7-12, 15 via decision, and 1 going with Pianeta to pull off a miracle.

Over/Under: 23 players lost points by taking the over (6 1/2 or 8 1/2), while only 8 scored points on the under.

Despite a less than spectacular week, last season's champion motowneast takes over the top spot with 172.5 points. It was a struggle for AGLA, with last week's overall leader dropping to second with 159.5 after losing points, while DegGergis holds onto third spot at 142, despite also scoring in the negatives.

MmaJunki edges up from fifth to fourth with 133.5, while Hoosier climbs a few spots, going from eighth to fight with 123.5. The rest of the overall top ten has HandsOfStone98 at 121, RyanSexton 119.5, TheGunslinger27 114.5, Skeletor1982 111.5 and BrianBrock with 99.5.
