Paulie Malignaggi will defend his WBA welterweight title on June 22 against Adrien Broner, and with the trash talk flying all over between the two characters, both are claiming the fight is "easy money" for them.
Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO) says that of the options he was given, Broner was the easiest of the bunch:
"What happens to Broner when it isn't easy? He's never been put in this situation before. I thought this was the easiest fight they offered to me. They're giving me an ex-junior-lightweight. It was a no-brainer. He has good speed and power but a lot of what he does is overrated."
Considering that one proposed fight that fell through was ancient Shane Mosley, it's doubtful Broner was really the easiest option for Paulie, but hey, it's a good quote. Broner has been in tough, though -- once, against Daniel Ponce De Leon, and he had to escape with a win there.
Is anyone buying Paulie as a real threat to Broner, or is Broner's youth, speed, and power going to be too much?
