In an appearance tonight on BoxingScene Radio, Paulie Malignaggi was largely unintelligible in his sizzling outrage, but he did speak clearly when the idea of a rematch with Adrien Broner came up, and he's also clearly still not convinced of Broner's supposed greatness.
When asked about a rematch, Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO) said, "It's about more than money. It's about the principle, and the money." Malignaggi believes that many relied too much on flawed CompuBox and SHOStats numbers to score the fight, but did note that much of the media had it for Broner, while he's been told many fans scored it his way.
Malignaggi also said that Broner (27-0, 22 KO) doesn't hit hard, and that he doesn't even hit as hard as Cano. Paulie said that as far as power punchers go that he's faced, there's Miguel Cotto and everyone else. But on the Broner/Cano comparison, Paulie said, "Not even close."
The animated Brooklyn fighter was also asked whether or not Broner will go through on his promise to let the fans pick his next opponent.
"He's absolutely not going to go through with that," Malignaggi said.
