Marcos Maidana faces Josesito Lopez tonight in the Showtime main event from the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, with Showtime Extreme going live with undercard bouts at 8 pm EDT, followed by a tripleheader on Showtime at 10 pm EDT.

BLH will have live coverage, led by yours truly (I'm Scott!).

Maidana (33-3, 30 KO) and Lopez (30-5, 18 KO) are both contenders at 147 right now, but this fight will possibly net the winner a title shot in the near future. The WBA Inter-continental title (held by Maidana) is on the line tonight, so the winner would be in a good position to possibly fight for the WBA belt by the end of the year.

The main undercard bout will see Alfredo Angulo (22-2, 18 KO) face Erislandy Lara (17-1-2, 11 KO) for the vacant interim WBA junior middleweight belt. With Canelo Alvarez as unified champion and Floyd Mayweather as super champion for the WBA, you can see the glaring need for an interim titlist. I mean, Alvarez hasn't fought since April 20, and those two are scheduled to fight all the way in September.

Opening the SHO broadcast will be junior middleweight prospect Jermell Charlo (20-0, 10 KO) taking on veteran Demetrius Hopkins (33-2-1, 13 KO), the unheralded nephew of Bernard. Demetrius is a decent operator on his better nights, so he's a decent test for Charlo, but nothing special.

On SHO Extreme, welterweights Yoshihiro Kamegai (22-0-1, 19 KO) and Johan Perez (16-1-1, 12 KO) look to take a step forward, while Gerald Washington (7-0, 5 KO) faces Sherman "Tank" Williams (35-12-2, 19 KO) in a heavyweight bout. If time permits, we'll see Joseph Diaz Jr (4-0, 2 KO) in action.
