Seth Mitchell vs Chris Arreola possible for September

Heavyweight sluggers Seth Mitchell and Chris Arreola are in discussions for a potential clash in September.

USA TODAY Sports

Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell got back into the win column with his rematch win over Johnathon Banks on June 22 in Brooklyn, but now his team is looking to get him an action fight that should please the fans, as Chris Arreola has been contacted about a possible fight for September on Showtime.

Mitchell (26-1-1, 19 KO) won a 12-round decision over Banks after being stopped in two by the veteran last November, this time using a safer, more tactical approach that made for what was without question a dull affair, largely due to Banks not making a ton of effort to get himself into the fight, or so it seemed, anyway.

That fight, though, was likely an aberration for Mitchell, who generally comes right to opponents and is happy to engage in slugfests. The same can be said for Arreola (35-3, 30 KO), a heavy-handed brawler who is most comfortable throwing down, toe-to-toe.

Arreola lost his last fight badly, as Bermane Stiverne dominated him over 12 in an HBO-televised fight on April 27. Though he's coming off of a loss, he does make a lot of sense as an opponent for Mitchell, who is still trying to build up into a legitimate contender. It's also a dangerous fight, as Arreola can thump, and Mitchell hasn't shown the greatest punch resistance or defense over his career.

If this one happens, any bets on how long it lasts?
