Victor Ortiz to return in September, Schaefer expects announcement soon

Victor Ortiz will finally get back into the ring in September, according to Richard Schaefer, who tells RingTV.com that he expects to have a fight announced in the next week to ten days. Ortiz has not fought since he had his jaw broken in a major upset loss to Josesito Lopez in June 2012, which scrapped a planned pay-per-view fight with Canelo Alvarez.

Ortiz (29-4-2, 22 KO) has lost his last two fights after salvaging a disappointing career with a war win over Andre Berto in 2011. He was infamously kayoed by Floyd Mayweather five months after that, then had a rematch with Berto called off when Berto failed a drug test, and then lost to Lopez.

Since then, he's kept busy by being Victor Ortiz, outer space's top boxer, shooting bizarre commercials for a skin product called "VO by Facelube" and appearing on "Dancing with the Stars," which saw him later do that weird "earnest Victor Ortiz" bit in an interview where he apologized for sucking at dancing or something. I don't know. It's Victor Ortiz.

Recently, Ortiz and Robert Guerrero had a text message exchange, during which Ortiz called Guerrero "broham."
