British middleweight prospect Billy Joe Saunders stayed unbeaten today with a 12-round win over Gary O'Sullivan at Wembley Arena, getting the victory on scores of 120-109, 120-109, and 119-110, thoroughly dominating a game but overmatched opponent.
Saunders (18-0, 10 KO) didn't do anything spectacular in the fight, but got rounds in and looked solid, picking up a minor WBO title in the process. He's set next to defend his British title against John Ryder (15-0, 9 KO) at Copper Box Arena on September 21.
Ryder is expected to be a much stiffer test for Saunders, but Billy Joe has dealt with the better competition thus far as a pro, and has proved out all the way to date. He'll likely be the solid favorite in September.
Other results from Wembley: Dereck Chisora scored a controversial KO-6 win over Malik Scott in a heavyweight bout ... Frank Buglioni remained unbeaten, but didn't impress with a win over journeyman Kirill Psonko ... Bradley Saunders stopped Michael Kelly in five ... Dmitry Chudinov went to a draw against Patrick Mendy over eight rounds.
