Former women's world boxing champion and longtime standout Holly Holm made what she says is her full-time transition to mixed martial arts on Friday night in Houston, defeating Allanna Jones via headkick knockout in the second round of their fight on the Legacy Fighting Championship 21 card.
Hat tip to Bloody Elbow and Zombie Prophet for the GIFs:
Holm is now 4-0 in MMA according to her record page at Sherdog, with all of her wins coming by TKO or KO, and three of the four a result of kicks, not punches. Holm does have a kickboxing background and obviously has some legitimate potential with this move, far more than probably any other full-time, legitimate boxer who has made the transition.
Holm is competing at 135 pounds, which is the division of Ronda Rousey, and the lone division in which the UFC has a female championship. Could Holly eventually make her way to the UFC and take on the top WMMA fighters in the world? I don't know. Maybe. I'm not fuckin' Nostradamus over here.
