Guillermo Rigondeaux may make HBO executives vomit their lunches all over themselves every time Bob Arum so much as mentions that he exists, but manager Gary Hyde is confident that the Cuban will be back on HBO airwaves, according to a report from Mike Coppinger at BoxingScene.com:
"Bob Arum said he has made good progress with HBO," Hyde said, "and he is confident he will have a date soon."
Rigondeaux (12-0, 8 KO) scored a great win in April, defeating Nonito Donaire via clear decision. It's worth remembering that HBO has not publicly said anything about being disinterested in Rigondeaux's fights. All of this stuff has been based on what Arum told someone, and Richard Schaefer says that sometimes Bob Arum lies, which is mind-blowing news to all of us every time he mentions it.
Anyway, I'd imagine if Rigondeaux doesn't price himself out, and if they find the right opponent, then sure, he could be right back on HBO, and it will be like none of this ever happened. That could very easily be the case.
