Showtime will air a "Special Edition" boxing broadcast on Friday, September 6, with the returns of Victor Ortiz and Rafael Marquez slated for the show, plus a heavyweight showdown between Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell and Chris Arreola. The card has been rumored heavily for the last week or so, and Gordon Hall confirmed to BoxingScene.com that the event is going to take place.

Victor Ortiz (29-4, 22 KO) will make his return to the ring on the show, likely against Alfonso Gomez (23-6-2, 12 KO). Ortiz hasn't fought since having has jaw busted by Josesito Lopez in June 2012, while Gomez hasn't fought since a loss to Shawn Porter in July 2012.

Rafael Marquez (41-8, 37 KO) will end his own lengthy layoff, having not fought since an October 2012 loss to Cristian Mijares. It appears that the 38-year-old Marquez will face Efrain Esquivias (16-2-1, 9 KO). Marquez recently signed a deal with Golden Boy Promotions, reportedly for four fights.

The most intriguing fight to most is probably the fight between Mitchell (26-1-1, 19 KO) and Arreola (35-3, 30 KO). Mitchell recently beat Johnathon Banks in a rematch, though the fight was quite dull, and "Mayhem" wants to get back into a likely action fight, it would seem. Arreola is coming off of a bad loss to Bermane Stiverne, but could still be really dangerous here against the vulnerable former Michigan State football star.
