Miguel Cotto had been tentatively set for a September 28 return on Showtime, but recent rumors have the Puerto Rican star headed back to HBO for his next fight, possibly against Carlos Molina on October 5.
Cotto (37-4, 30 KO) hasn't fought since December, and has lost two straight bouts to Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout. The 32-year-old, three-division titlist has said he's only got a few more fights left in his career, and Molina (21-5-2, 6 KO) wouldn't fit the bill of a soft comeback opponent by any means. Despite a record that doesn't look impressive on paper, he's one of the craftiest, toughest guys at 154 pounds. In other words, he's no Yuri Foreman or Michael Jennings.
If the fight does go through, would any of you actually favor Molina in this one? He's closer to his prime (even though he's not much younger in actual years at 30), but is Cotto still good enough, and does the style matchup work well enough for him?
In other words, WHO R U PICKING
There's also a rumor that Freddie Roach will train Cotto. Roach is also supposedly going to train Alexander Povetkin to face Wladimir Klitschko on that date. I dunno.
